Miksang Photography - Level One
July 06, 2007
On
Saturday, September 8, and Sunday, September 9, 2007,
from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the Shambhala
Meditation Center of San Antonio will host a workshop
on Miksang. Miksang is a Tibetan word that translates
as "Good Eye." It is the name given to a form of
contemplative photography, which brings together the
art of photography and the discipline of meditation
through synchronization of the eye and mind. When eye
and mind are in the same place the moment by moment
vividness of the visual world manifests and is
appreciated fully. Although the experience of clear
seeing is available to everyone, people come to
contemplative photography with different motivations.
Some want to give expression to what they experience
through the discipline of meditation. Some have
recognized some direct and vivid quality of
perception in their own experience and want to
explore and express that potential. Others have
trained in photography or other arts and are curious
about the contemplative approach. The common element
is an interest in clear seeing.
Maxine Sidran, a highly regarded Miksang practitioner and authorized teacher, will teach this two-day training in Miksang (Level 1). Information about Ms. Sidran and copies of her work can found at the following web sites:
