Registration cost does not include the cost for the course text. The text for the Taming the Mind class will be $30, but it will also be used for the upcoming Walking the Bhodisattva Path class. You can purchase the text the day of the first class.
This course, together with its companion course Walking the Bodhisattva Path, introduces students to the view and practice of the hinayana and mahayana. It presents the hinayan path of renouncing samsara and the joy of developing discipline on the path that leads to liberation. Both of these courses are open to all, there are no prerequisites.
Format-- Four week-night classes in which students work with the following topics:
--The Buddhist Path of Transformation
--Mindfulness and Awareness
--True Suffering
--Motivation and the Four Reminders
--Faith and Discipline
--Selflessness and Liberation.
Fee: The course fee is $40 plus the cost of the sourcebook, which will be available on the first night of class. The fee can be paid at the time of registration on-line or on the first night of class.
Reading: The sourcebook, Taming the Mind and Walking the Bodhisattva Path, will be used for class discussion and outside reading.
