Thank you for visiting our website and your interest in the Shambhala Meditation Center of San Antonio! We know that at first glance the information on the site may be a little overwhelming, so we put together this page to help get you started.
Who We Are
We Offer:
• Group meditation practice
• Individual meditation instruction by trained and authorized instructors
• Courses in Buddhist studies
• Shambhala Training
• Workshops in contemplative arts
• Family events and community celebrations of Shambhala holidays
First Steps
Studying meditation and/or Buddhism can be overwhelming due to the various styles, teachings, and traditions each has. Simply "Googling" either subject returns a barrage of pages upon pages of info. Perhaps one of the most valuable resources our Center offers is your very own teacher (Meditation Instructor) to help guide you through our meditation style and Buddhist teachings/traditions (if you are interested). It's important to note that our meditation and Shambhala teachings are secular in nature. We accept all faiths and peoples. If you are interested in Buddhism and/or becoming Buddhist, that is available as well. To meet with a Meditation Instructor, you need to attend a beginners session at a time noted below:
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 PM - 8 PM
Each session will include beginners meditation instruction, Center tour, and a question and answer session. These sessions are free of charge and no appointment is necessary. The Meditation Instructor will give you their card so that if you come up with more questions or would like to setup a time for further instruction, you may do so.
Once you feel comfortable with our meditation style, we highly encourage you to come join us during our public meditation times. As mentioned before, we offer many classes and are sure that you will find many things of value and a very warm and welcoming community!
If you have any questions, you can send us an email here and we will be sure to get back to you. Thanks for your interest and we look forward to meeting you!
Becoming a Member
As you become more comfortable with the Center, we would like for you to consider becoming a member. We wouldn't be able to manage the building or offer any of the great classes we do without the support of our membership. Please visit the Membership page for more info.
